My kiddos
LOVE
a challenge!
Whether it’s sports…
or a
Scientific Theory
or a puzzle!
They LOVE a CHALLENGE!
And so..
I CHALLENGED THEM!
My challenge was for US,
NOT ME,
but for US,
to decide on
ONE KIND THING TO DO
EACH DAY
for 28 days!
The entire MONTH of FEBRUARY!
And so..
HERE WE GO!
We are making our Bulletin board display.
The kids will make the header!
More to come….
Day 1… they decided to say “THANK YOU”
to at least 3 people today!
( We later decided to try to do this EVERY DAY!)
Day 2… No one likes to see someone ALONE at recess.
My kiddos decided that on DAY 2
they would ask someone “new”,
not necessarily new to our school…
but someone they don’t
usually play with, to join them!
Maybe make a “new” friend!
Day 3…They wanted to do something
for someone outside of our school.
We talked about helping others.
They decided that IF they could hold
the door open for someone…ANYONE
…that would be KIND!
Here is our wall so far.
They are already discussing the weekend.
They want to “make breakfast for someone..
help around he house..carry groceries in!
Update:
Day 4 : Hand a LUNCH tray to the person
BEHIND you.
This reminded someone of the
Starbuck’sPay it Forward.
They wanted to see if other kids would pass a lunch tray
to the person behind THEM..and so on, and so on.
Day 5: Share your whiteboard eraser.
OK..disclaimer..
THEY ALL HAVE A WHITEBOARD ERASER!
It just means..
IF they can’t FIND it the moment they NEED it…
YES.
YOU should SHARE.
They must ASK (not grab)
“Please, MAY I USE YOUR ERASER?”
When done…say “Thank You for letting me use your eraser.”
AND RETURN IT!
(Working on speaking in complete sentences, too)
Day 6: (Weekend)
Something KIND they could do at home.
VACUUM!!! Should help the WHOLE FAMILY!
Day 7: (Superbowl SUNDAY!)
They talked about parties & family & friends.
HOW could THEY help!
Make food!
We talked about putting out chips, fruit, plates, napkins, etc.
THINGS that 6 yr. olds CAN DO.
AND
Cleaning UP!
Being KIND doesn’t STOP when you are done eating!
And they ARE doing it!
Already… others are noticing.
They are making a difference.
No matter what activity they decide upon,
they have ALREADY made a difference.
They have already proven..
KINDNESS COUNTS!
They have met the challenge
&
conquered it!
More to come…
From the mouths of babes.
